Band members Andres Portillo and Juan Vargas started their music career by making covers of popular songs such as “Cigarette Daydreams” by Cage the Elephant, “Addict With A Pen” by twenty one pilots, and “I Promise I’m Trying” by Cavetown. Performing covers was fun to them but they were passionate about the music-making process which led to the creation of late night drive home. Late night drive home plays a bedroom-alternative style of music whose origin is unknown but is commonly associated with the SoundCloud band scene. Late night drive home gained local popularity after the duo uploaded "waiting for u", a song which demonstrated the style late night drive home would adopt. After the local success of "waiting for u" Andres Portillo and Juan Vargas added a percussionist to the group, Evan Neria. Evan Neria debuted on late night drive’s song "Pillow Monsters." Evan Neria & the group months later decided it was best for him to depart from the group leaving them with no drummer for 4 months, but to avail it came as they found their new drummer, Brian Dolan.

late night drive home is now working on an album and is hoping to pursue a new sound mainstream media has yet to encounter.
